Circle of friends

Written by lam0beaner

saying goodbye to the circle

Yesterday was my last day on the job. Everything is final now! My co-workers presented 476C42C8-95DA-4DDC-8679-C4DE4F30254Eme with a watch on Thursday. It’s beautiful! The crystal circle, covers an opalescent back ground which Roman numerals signify the hour. Complete with the date. (I’m grateful for that feature as not having to work, I will get lost in what day it is!).

They did not know that the opal is my birthstone (October). The fact that it looks like it has the opal for a background is one of those God sent moments. I truly believe his guidance over them was at play here.

my circle of friends expanded

THE greatest thing about the past couple of days is that I was able to see the heart of my co-workers revealed. By way of that, I expanded my circle of friends to include all of them. My inner circle of those on my crew was always in tact. We just kept to our respected role within the job.

The people I managed are a great, diverse, bunch of people. They all have their quirks and uniqueness, and quite honestly, I am honored to have evolved from boss to friend. The others that make up our department work a different shift than us. Making a connection becomes a bit more difficult. Non the less, they are a bunch of guys in conjunction with that same unique group, and they showed me humbling kindness yesterday.

the leader of the pack

The leader of the pack truly has the heart of a lion. I am proud to have worked with him in the capacity of boss and subordinate. He has truly led by example for those who notice and brings heart to every decision he makes. We have complimented each other over the years, that will leave a void in my life for some time.

One not to be forgotten is his assistant. She offsets the balance of all of us. Somehow she  stays neutral to the diversity and lends major support to our department. She literally receives all the complaints from co-workers, staff, some public, all the while letting it roll off her like water off a ducks back. She has been such an inspiration to me. One that I am going to miss dearly.

Closing the chapter

Now I have finished the chapter, the book on the first part of my life has been written. The time has come to get started on the sequel. For that, new adventures, locations and characters (along with the ones already in my life) will begin to be scribed into the story of my life. I am both eager and willing to discover what the new book will be.

I hope I have left all those who have crossed my path with a real sense of the compassionate person I strive to be, for each and every one of them had a hand in my progress. I’m honored, grateful and now moving on to a new dawn.
