Corduroy Strut

Written by lam0beaner

Going to town

I had to go to Lanising today to get fingerprinted for another aspect of my job. In doing so, and given the cold spell we are in, I thought I would take advantage of being in a Big town and shop for corduroy pants.

I strut from one store to the next, drove miles, all I got was “no cords”. One lady told me she hasn’t seen courderoys for two seasons, what? Cotton cords is the only way I keep warm in the winter!

pantaloons

A beautiful soul of a woman I have been doing a life bio on explained to me that back in the day they wore pantaloons to keep warm. They were always black and hand made. I guess I will try my hand at making a pair. She said they had to be silk. That’s the warmest. I believe some of the old ways should be revisited from time to time. If hubby insists on being here in cold weather when he retires, I might as well get in the habit of making long Johns.

We are not in the coldest season yet and I’m freezing every time I go outside. Not only that, when I get inside I have to get under the heating blanket to warm up. That, or a hot shower. One of the great things about age, I take it.

What I would like to know

How do corduroy’s go out of season? It’s part of cold weather attire, like a winter coat, or so I thought. I have online as a last resort to find any. The problem with that is there is no way to try them on. It sucks, to me, to have to send things back. Yet I just bought a pair of steel toe boots online. I’m hoping I will get lucky.

Hubby bought a pair of the same kind of steel toe. He was able to tell me they were true to size and show me what they were like.

I’m off to take a nap so that I can strut myself to work tonight!
